Use case
Sewage sludge is residue generated by the treatment of waste water in sewage plants. The constant production of waste makes its management complicated. iotilize.me has installed its devices in a sewage treatment plant, with the aim of reducing the time spent by operators in the waste management process and remotely knowing the filling status of the skips, in order to speed up the movement of the screw conveyor without the need for a previous operator check.
How does it work?
iotilize.me's devices are designed to be waterproof, resistant to both dirt and moisture: they are equipped with a hydrophobic and anti-dust slide, which makes any external body slide ensuring maximum efficiency.
They are installed on the short side of the container (where the truck hooks up) and, after entering the dimensions, start measuring immediately. The measuring interval can be changed: for this specific case, an optimal time frame of 1 hour per measurement was found.
Benefits
The devices, thanks to iotilize.me's innovative volume measurement technology, were able to recognise the uneven distribution of the sludge (the ‘pyramid’ in the centre of the caisson), providing an accurate measurement of the filling volume.
Through the application, it was possible to keep track of the fill level and obtain a weight estimate, with an accuracy of 99% verified at the weighbridge. The container manager was able to contact the collection company without having to see the container.
